The short version
BurnSub processes your video entirely in your browser. Nothing about your video — file, audio, captions, content — is uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any server we operate.
What we don't collect
- Your video file or any frame of it
- Your generated captions or transcripts
- Your subtitle styles (unless you explicitly use the "Share Style" link feature, which generates a permalink containing only style settings — no video content)
- Your name, email, or account info (there is no account)
- IP address (we use Cloudflare which proxies requests)
What we do collect
Standard anonymized web analytics via Google Analytics 4: page views, country, browser type, referrer, session duration. This is aggregated and used to improve the site. IP addresses are anonymized.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies for analytics consent (where required by law, such as GDPR jurisdictions) and Google AdSense ad personalization. You can reject non-essential cookies via the consent banner.
Google AdSense
The site shows ads served by Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing. You can opt out of personalized ads at Google's Ad Settings.
Local storage
BurnSub uses your browser's local storage to remember your last 5 caption styles between visits. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted. You can clear it via your browser settings at any time.
Style permalinks
When you click "Share Style", BurnSub generates a short URL (e.g.
burnsub.com/s/abc123). The permalink stores only your style
settings (font, color, position, animation) — no video content, no personal
data. Permalinks are stored in our edge database for at least 90 days.
Showcase submissions (optional)
If you opt in to "Show in Gallery" after exporting a video, a 5-second clip of your output is uploaded to our edge storage for moderation and public display. This is fully opt-in and clearly indicated. You can request removal anytime by emailing [email protected].
Children
BurnSub is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from minors.

We'll update this page if anything changes. Material changes will be announced on the homepage.
